BTEC ART + DESIGN DIPLOMA

  • The BTEC Art & Design Diploma is a rigorous vocational course and students complete 11 units of work over 2 years. The method of instruction is through studio workshops, research trips and critique.
  • The first year, building foundations across fine art disciplines in visual recording, materials, techniques and processes, drawing from observation, communication of concepts and ideas, surface pattern design and a written unit in Conceptual Influences in Art and Design.
  • The second year, extending their work in a double credit, self proposed personal project unit, and in addition, units in painting, printmaking and multidisciplinary work in fine art. The expectations and goals are to work at a high standard in quality work and integrity.
  • The BTEC differs from conventional courses by providing a practical, work- related qualification, real- world approach to learning; continually developing and updating to meet the needs of industry sectors and students.
